1. Is it legal?
The Fair Credit Reporting Act allows consumers to be pre-screened as long as a firm offer of credit is made to those who meet specified credit criteria. One-off pre-screens, such as Instant Screen, are permissible under the FCRA.

No. Instant Screen utilizes technology similiar to what's used in offering pre-screened credit card offers in the mail. There is no negative impact to the consumer's credit rating by using this product.

It's very fast. Instant Screen is a live pre-screen service that provides you with information within seconds.

Instant Screen is the first of its kind in the automotive industry. There have been point-of-sale pre-screens occurring at retail stores for many years, but this is a unique product specifically for automobile dealers.

6. What information is necessary to run an Instant Screen?
For showroom traffic, only a name and address are required. For internet leads, a name, address, and e-mail address are required. Consumer authorization and social security number are not required.

7. Why do I have to present the customer with a pre-qualification certificate?
This is necessary to comply with federal regulations mandating the firm offer of credit when consumer credit information is obtained without consumer authorization.

There are 10 Instant Screen tiers, based on credit bureau score ranges, as well as other credit factors, such as repossessions and bankruptcies.

11. How often should I pre-screen a consumer?
The offer of credit is only valid for 30 days, so this should be the deciding factor when a customer visits your store at a later date.
